On Friday, March 24, 2023, the Hockey for the Homeless hockey tournament was held at Merlis Belsher aren in Saskatoon. Brenda Bitz, team captain of the Rotary Blues led the team in this great fundraiser. Our Meewasin Rotary club was proud to sponsor this team which raised $14,241. This was part of the overall total of over $164,000 raised for the tournament, 100% of which is split evenly between the Friendship Inn, Saskatoon Food Bank and the YWCA of Saskatoon.
The players included: Owen Fortosky, Phil Rochon, Ken McIntosh, Bob Brisebois, Chris Boychuk, Terry Hendry, Bredan Bitz, Kieron Kilduff, Ron Schira, Matt Swerhone, Brandon Anholt, Brodie Zuk, Mike Link, Joe Bitz, Barry Morozoff, Byron Bitz and Randy Lewis.
